Hi people!  My name is Rowdy and  I came to BHRA as a stray.  I am a cute, playful 15 month old Basset looking for my forever home!  I am sweet and gentle, not so "rowdy" as my name might make you think.  I'd love to have a big back yard to run around and play in and nice long walks would be super fine with me!  I get along great with other dogs and people.  I am interested in cats, but I won't hurt them...they are just fun!  I tend to be a little food aggressive around other dogs, but that is not uncommon in a stray like me.  I just need the right loving touch to show me that my next meal is just a few hours away and that I don't have to be so protective of my food.  I have been observed in a "free feeding" situation and I like that just fine!  I can eat whenever I want and I don't get so protective over my food.  I do just fine being fed in a crate around other dogs, though!  I really am looking forward to finding my forever home with all the love and attention a young guy like me needs and deserves!

Here are just a few things that my foster people would like you to know about me:

-I LOVE to play with other dogs and play tug of war!
-I LOVE belly rubs (I really do!)
-I LOVE to give hugs to people sitting down
-I LOVE kids -and not just for dinner :-)
-I am patient around aggressive animals on our block
-I am a professional counter surfer
-I can smell anything resembling food for 100's of miles away!
-I am very well potty trained (thank you very much!)-No accidents!
-I LOVE to take naps with humans -(by the way...I snore!)
-I am trained to use a doggie door
-I am a great guard dog (can't you tell how MACHO I am?)
-I am still an aggressive eater -but I am fine with small dogs as long as I am  crated for feedings (I don't mind this a bit...just bring on the vittles!)
-I am a good judge of my environment -I get extra energy when I am around the high energy mini dachshund that lives with my foster people
-and finally...when the humans arrive home, I believe this is an occasion to party! (I really love to see them!)

OK...now that you know EVERYTHING about me...I will just sit here by the phone and wait for you to call me and tell me that you are ready to come pick me up and take me home with you!  If I don't answer the phone it might be nap time...so feel free to talk to my foster people about me!
