Robbie and Everett Bagby

Introducing the newest member of the Bagby Crew...

5/10/08...Hi, my name is Jeffery. I have finally found my forever home!

You see, I have had a very unstable life until now and have been neglected and physically abused. But that is to be no more. I get to sleep on the bed with my mom and mom and dad even let me lay on them to give them sugar any time I want to. I have a bunch of other fur brothers and sisters to play with and kitties to chase when I take a notion. Sometimes the kitties love to groom me.

Mom is even talking about taking me to Do Dah Day on 5/17/08 to show me off.

Sally Sue!

Sally came to Robbie and Everett as an owner surrender.
She had a terrible ear infection, a raging case of fleas and very advanced glaucoma.
The poor little dear's eyes will have to be removed because they are in such a state
that they are causing her pain and she can't see out of them anyway.
Robbie and Everett will nurse her back to health as part of their very much loved pack!
Congratulations Bagbys!!

Here is Sally after her surgery and she is doing GREAT!!!

Lucy Bagby
Lucy had been found as a stray in Chilton County.
Robbie picked her up after her spay from the vet's office, took her home and she has never left!

Jaime Bagby with Everett
Jamie was a stray in Birmingham.
She was brought to the Bagby's home after they opened up an outside area
to give basset hounds a safe place to stay before receiving medical attention and going on to foster care.
They had recently lost a pet and Everett wanted to adopt one of the bassets.  Since Jaime was very affectionate with him, he decided on her.
She was then treated for heartworms and has been with them ever since.

Devon Bagby
Devon came from the Anniston shelter covered in his own waste.
Robbie got him out of a crate and gave him a bath and cut his very long toe nails.  She turned him out with her own dogs.
It took 3 days before he would get near Robbie again (they believe he had been severely abused.)
Then he started coming up to snuggle with Robbie and has been her shadow ever since.
He is not a "people dog" and is very fearful of people.
Robbie knew he was not a very adoptable dog and he has won her love.

DaisyBelle and Everett
DaisyBelle came to the Bagby's for a few days to get her medical work done and then went back to foster.
While with the Bagby's she won Everett's heart and he couldn't get her out of his mind. So he said he wanted to adopt her too.
She is his shadow to the bathroom, shower, in his office while working at his computer or anywhere she can follow him.
She sits with him on the couch and growls at the other dogs if they get too close while she is getting her snuggle time.

Hollee Bagby
Hollee passed away in November 2007

Hollee had a very tragic story. She had been adopted by someone else for about 2 years.  When the woman came down with  medical problems she was going to send her back into Rescue. Before getting back to BHRA, Hollee was attacked by what they think might have been a coyote.  She was practically skinned on her neck, and her right side.  She had a big hole in her flank area as well as many other holes in her belly. She spent a week at the woman's own vet and then came to BHRA on or about October 20. She stayed at Calera Animal Hospital until right before Christmas.  Then she came home with Robbie and Everett still with very little skin on part of her neck. When she was sent to Calera A H. her kidneys weren't working.  Dr. Rhonda Ellison started her on IV fluids and kept her on them for quite a few weeks. Hollee was responding to the medical care and all the love and attention of the staff at Calera. As you can imagine, HUGE medical bills piled up.  A basset forum group that Robby is a member of held an online fundraiser for Hollee and the money was sent to BHRA to pay for her mounting vet bills. Everett and Robbie adopted her and kept her as their own. Hollee is deaf now due to one of the medicines used for systemic infections. Regardless of her deafness, she is a very sweet girl and responds to Robby's hand signals. If she isn't looking at Robby when she wants her to come, Robbie stomps the floor to get Hollee's attention. She is a most special girl in Robbie and Everett's basset pack. They are thankful to have her...and she is lucky to have them!
