BASSET HOUND RESCUE OF ALABAMA, INC. Long Distance Adoption Agreement The undersigned, hereafter known as the "Adopting
person(s)" understand that the animal they are adopting is being sent and
dispatched from a great distance. While an adoption with Basset Hound
Rescue of Alabama, Inc., is never "final" in that BHRA will always receive
back an animal it has placed, the logistics of doing so, especially during
the summer months when airline travel is prohibitively hot, is often
difficult and impractical. Therefore the adopting person(s) and BHRA
covenant and agree as follows: 1.
Adopting person(s) will sign and deliver to BHRA=s
representatives fully signed and executed copies of this agreement, the
adoption application and adoption agreement before the animal is placed in
transit; 2.
Adopting person(s) will deliver to BHRA full payment of the adoption
fee and any transportation costs to be incurred in transport and delivery of
the animal prior to the animal being placed in transit, such payment to be
by check, money order, cashier=s
check or via electronic paypal or similar payment; 3.
Because the adopting person(s), unlike most of our adoptions, have
not had the opportunity meet the animal prior to placement to assure a
compatible relationship, the adopting person(s) agree that he/she/they will
retain possession of the animal for at least one month (30 days) during
which time they will make all efforts to reach a compatible relationship
with the animal and during which time he/she/they will attempt to foster and
develop a relationship with the animal by implementing any behavior
modification techniques suggested by BHRA; 4.
BHRA will advise the adopting person(s) in advance of any known or
manifested behaviors exhibited by the dog but can make no representation or
guarantee of unwanted behaviors manifesting themselves once the animal is
received by and placed into the environment of the adopting person(s); 1. In
the unlikely event the adopting person(s) cannot modify the behavior of the
animal or for any other reason is dissatisfied with animal, BHRA will accept
it back but the adopting person(s) shall be responsible for payment, in
advance, of any costs associated with returning the animal to BHRA. 5.
The terms and conditions set forth herein are real and not mere
recitals, and consideration for the same is incorporated as a part of the
adoption fee.
