Text Box: Dear Friends of BHRA,
On any given day, we receive 2—5 phone calls or emails asking us to take in a Basset Hound.  These requests are from kill shelters, individuals who have found a Basset, or people who for one reason or another have to find a new home for their Basset Hound.
Since 1999 we have been responding to these calls for help and have found homes for nearly 1,200 hounds.  Now we are calling for your help.  As a supporter of rescue, we hope you will help us with a monetary donation by responding generously to this huge need.
Your financial donation enhances your commitment to this special breed and allows Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama to continue finding “forever homes” for these precious souls who need love and give so much love, joy and comfort in return.  You are helping a Basset Hound return to (or possibly start for the first time) a full and rewarding life spent loving and enhancing a human’s life.
Veterinary expenses are BHRA’s largest expenditure.  Look at what we have spent and you will understand why we need your help!
۩   In 2005, BHRA spent $36,685.35 for all veterinary expenses.  We paid vet bills for 155 dogs and the average bill was $236.68.
۩   In 2006, BHRA spent $31,868.53 for all veterinary expenses.  We paid vet bills for 178 dogs and the average bill was $179.03.
۩   So far in 2007, BHRA has spent $30,313.44 for all veterinary expenses.  We paid vet bills for 142 dogs and the average bill was $213.47.
*Note:  Our vetting costs are so far lower than those of most rescues.  This is a result of meticulous coordination of medical care and the generosity of two very special veterinary clinics.  We are extremely thankful to them.
We currently have 39 hounds in foster care with another 20 waiting for a foster home.  This is more than we have ever had in our care at one time.  We desperately need foster homes.
As you can see, the need is huge and continues to grow.  We need your help so no Basset is turned away because we lack financial resources or foster homes.  Your donation is tax deductible and any amount will be worthwhile and greatly appreciated.
