Dianne's Visit with Tina in Norway!

Tabatha, Zeke and Deborah

My ex-husband wanted a Bassett Hound for a birthday present, and this is how Zeke, a.k.a.  "Zekie Boy" was acquired in August of 03,   I bought him as a present from a breeder at seven weeks old.  I was living in TN at the time.  The marriage did not last after almost one year,  and I returned to Alabama to be near my family in 04.  I had my dog Tabatha, a four year old Husky Mix, which I acquired from a shelter in Lebanon, TN at 12 wks. old,  she is five months older than Zeke, so they grew up together.  My ex did not want to keep Zeke, I did not know how I would manage two dogs, however, I would not contemplate breaking up my puppies.  Today, Zeke is shy of four years old, and my constant shadow.  The  two are  very affectionate.  I am a nurse on night shift, but when I am at home, he is my personal alarm clock to get me up and take him out.  He is so lovable, loyal, and affectionate.  I could not imagine a day without him.  He has brought so much joy and happiness in my life.  He loves to eat, is very curious, and each day for him is a new adventure.  He loves to bark at large black birds when he is out on my front porch in McCalla.  I never knew that I would be the mother to a short legged, mahogany, and white dog with big ears, and now probably near my vet said last week, 80 lbs.  He also loves to eat.  He also loves rawhide to play with.  I couldn't imagine a day with out "Zekie Boy".  His mother's name was Katie May.  He was her last puppy, and she hid him in her dog house because she did not want to give up her last baby.  I saw her motherly instincts, and her love for him first hand.  The breeder had to go in the dog house and get him out.  So I named him on his AKC papers, "Katie May's Humble Zeke",  it should have been "Katie May's Curious Zeke".  Every day of my life is brightened with Zeke, I could not imagine a day without him.  God works in strange ways, if I every have a "down day", Zeke always looks at me and tells me with his big brown eyes that everything will be all right.  He is a special blessing.

Sincerely,

Deborah
Welcome Deborah, Tabatha and Zeke!!

This is our friend Tina Herbert in Norway and her four Bassets (Billy, Clara, Ludvig, And Ben.)  How many of you have trouble getting your hounds to go out on a cold winter's morning?  Imagine having this to face! Aren't they a beautiful crew?
