Dearest

Mama Simmons,

~

The world looked into my suffering eyes

And saw empty, sadness, and dark.

Mama Simmons saw potential and hope

Because she looked into my heart.

The Animal Shelter saw a starved, hairless,

Mangy stray whom they asked you to put down.

You saw a beautiful Basset and a bright future for this Hound.

So it was with your request for me and granted by the Pound,

That you set out to make me well and give life to this wanna-be clown.

You found a cure for my old mange and with lots of love and hugs,

You nurtured me back to health again and got rid of them ‘ole’ bugs.

You gave me back the will to live, a new fur coat, and meat upon my bones.

Then you named me Boscoe and found me a new forever home.

Now Me and my new Mommy looked for some small way to pay you back.

That was when we decided to make you this special plaque.

Not only to say Thank You Mama Simmons,

For a future free of hunger and strife,

But MOST of all for the decision you made

The day you saved my life.

~

Love,

Boscoe
