in, we regret that intake is closed once again. We are in
desperate need of foster homes. If you can help, please contact

WE NEED
YOU! BHRA is
looking for dedicated volunteers to help with a few jobs! Here is
a list of the jobs we can use some help with:
Foster Home Coordinator Manage and
post updates to the Foster Home List and help place hounds in the right
foster homes.
Medical Records Coordinator Compile
medical records, updates Heartworm Prevention List and email final
adoptions to APR.
Home Visit Coordinator Locate
individuals to perform home visits when adoption applications are
pending.
Transportation Coordinator Coordinate transportation of hounds to their
new forever homes.
Please contact our
Adoption Coordinator if you would be interested in donating a few
hours a week for a very worthy and fulfilling cause...the hounds of BHRA!
All of the jobs at BHRA are on a voluntary basis, but we can’t place a
value on the benefits you will reap by helping the hounds and working
with really great and dedicated people!
Any rescue organization's most valuable asset is the
availability of foster homes. PLEASE...can you make a difference?
Without the availability of foster space, we could have to turn away a
hound that really needs us. Won't you please consider opening your
home to a needy hound on a temporary basis? Please see our Foster page
for all of the details!
Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama (BHRA) is
an all volunteer, 501(c)(3), non-profit charity, dedicated solely to
rescuing and finding loving homes for homeless or needy basset hounds
from all over the state of AL (and in some cases, surrounding states).
Our rescues come from shelters, from owners surrendering their hounds,
and unclaimed strays. Every hound we rescue is fully vetted,
spayed or neutered, heartworm treated if they arrive positive, evaluated
and placed in loving foster homes until "forever homes" can be found for
them. The survival of BHRA is due solely to adoption fees (which
often do not even cover the vetting costs) and donations from the
public. All funds received go strictly to the care and vetting of these
precious hounds. We do not take administrative fees. Since
2000, BHRA has taken in and placed over 1,250 hounds in loving homes! To learn more, please click

WE NEED YOU!
We are in desperate need of foster homes. We currently have 23
hounds who are living outside or bunking at our veterinarian's office
due to lack of foster home space. There are also several dogs in
shelters that we simply can't bring in because we don't have space.
If you can open up your home to a needy hound, please contact our
adoption coordinator. We really need you now! BHRA Adoption
